Safety starts before a calibration menu
An ADAS service decision is also a worksite, driving and customer-safety decision.
Stop / verify / proceed · safety decisions
Research the actual OEM service requirements
The exact vehicle configuration and repair event determine which procedures apply—not the popularity of a generic tutorial.
Start with verified vehicle identity and equipment. Locate the appropriate current manufacturer service information and determine whether the affected system needs inspection, calibration, other operations, or no calibration for the documented event. Record the source and revision/date where available. Check applicable prerequisites, methods, approved tools/targets, alignment dependencies, software/configuration, verification and related safety notices.
OEM research worksheet · fictional job
Choose the evidence you need before authorizing work. Generate a research plan; this simulation never supplies a vehicle-specific calibration procedure.
Choose research categories to build your plan.
Evaluate tools, coverage and access
Possessing a scan tool or target does not prove coverage or authorization for a particular vehicle.
Confirm the VIN/configuration, specific module, procedure, software level and any manufacturer-approved equipment or access requirements.
Verify the required target/fixture, positioning system and equipment accuracy against that procedure; generic dimensions are not substitutes.
Identify any subscriptions, security access, programming, support or referral needed before promising the job.
Match the actual steps to documented technician training, safety procedures, facility capacity and verification capability.

Facility and workflow readiness
A facility is appropriate when it can meet the actual procedure and maintain the conditions throughout the operation.
Portable or rented premises do not automatically meet every requirement. Static and dynamic calibrations can involve different environmental and driving requirements; some vehicles specify more than one operation. Plan the entire required sequence before receiving or moving the customer vehicle.
Readiness review · instructional checklist
Select the categories the shop has verified against the actual OEM procedure. Missing any category means the simulated job remains on hold; this is not a real authorization checklist.
Scope of work, referral and shop controls
The right business decision is sometimes to decline a job, pause it, or use a qualified partner.
Before accepting work, define what is included and excluded: intake, inspection, diagnostic work, OEM research, any geometry correction, hardware repair, software operation, calibration, post-checks, documentation and customer communication. Identify who owns incomplete work and the required handoff. Clarify scheduling, training, insurance, contracts and local requirements with the appropriate professionals rather than treating this educational page as legal advice.
Five-stage simulated dispatch
Pricing and capacity without misleading promises
A calibration business should measure the real costs and limits of the service it can demonstrably deliver.
Account for research time, setup, diagnostics, tools, space, software access, labor, verification and documentation.
Plan for failed prerequisites, supplemental repairs, escalation, return visits, and referral without concealing customer-facing limitations.
Scheduling is limited by technician availability, actual procedure duration, bay access, road conditions and required quality checks.

Invented classroom numbers, not quotes, typical market rates or profit forecasts. Enter hypothetical costs to see why a single menu-price number is incomplete.
This simple teaching model excludes taxes, variable delays, risk, demand, collections and many other costs; its residual is not an earnings prediction.
