Four control-to-traction journeys
Virtual lab · requested AWD torque versus available traction
This fictional, dimensionless classroom model splits a requested total torque between front and rear paths, then caps each by a selectable abstract delivery limit. Actual AWD systems may use different strategies, driveline layouts and constraints. The model is not an axle-torque measurement or a traction-control algorithm.
This model is strictly arithmetic: front request = total × (1 − rear share), rear request = total × rear share, modeled delivery on each path = min(request, fictional limit). It omits differential behavior, wheel forces, controls, time dynamics, braking, tire grip, losses and redistribution; no displayed value is an OEM target or acceptable AWD test threshold.
Diagnose · follow the evidence
Pick a fictional work order. Inspect the available evidence, then choose a justified next action. Making a decision before examining key facts triggers a learning prompt.
Check knowledge · 10 questions
Answer every question before scoring. Feedback is based on your selected answers; the quiz is not a hands-on skills assessment.
Instructor-observed practical skills · separate record
Only qualified instructors may supervise work under current vehicle-specific OEM guidance and an appropriate safe support plan. Never spin wheels, force AWD clutch actuation or approach rotating axles for an unapproved demonstration. A form or online score is not a practical credential or authorization to release a vehicle.
