Four power-flow journeys
Virtual lab · U-joint angle and instantaneous speed
An ideal single Cardan joint at a working angle can speed up and slow down instantaneously through each revolution, even with constant input speed. A conceptual CV joint maintains constant output speed at the same fixed input. This is a geometry model—not a shaft vibration prediction, assembly specification, or approved operating-angle limit.
Schematic geometry only; scale and angle are exaggerated for visibility.
Ideal single-Cardan instantaneous speed ratio: cos(β) ÷ [1 − sin²(β) × sin²(θ)], with β = working angle and θ = input phase. This isolated geometric result is not a two-joint shaft model and does not predict road-speed vibration, permissible angle or any repair limit.
Diagnose · follow the evidence
Pick a fictional work order. Inspect the available evidence, then choose a justified next action. Making a decision before examining key facts triggers a learning prompt.
Check knowledge · 10 questions
Answer every question before scoring. Feedback is based on your selected answers; the quiz is not a hands-on skills assessment.
Instructor-observed practical skills · separate record
Use only with a qualified instructor, actual applicable OEM procedures and authorized equipment on a safely secured vehicle. NEVER inspect beneath or near a rotating/exposed driveshaft. Online completion is not hands-on competency or vehicle-release authorization.
