AUTONATOMY · COURSE 11
11.7 · Evidence-Based Transmission Diagnosis

Shift Quality, Ratio & Pressure Diagnostics

Turn a complaint such as flare, harsh shift, delayed engagement or wrong-gear operation into measurable evidence. Compare commanded operation with input/output speed ratio and hydraulic response, then decide what the evidence supports before naming a failed part.

7 lessons · 8-part evidence explorer · ratio/pressure lab · diagnostic sequence · 4 cases · 10-question check
Diagnostic boundary: Gear ratios, line-pressure specifications, tap locations, stall-speed limits, adaptive values, relearn procedures and safe test conditions vary by transmission. This module uses normalized classroom models and generic relationships only. Before performing pressure, stall, road or loaded tests on a real vehicle, identify the exact unit and follow current OEM service information, tooling, temperature and safety requirements.

Connection to Course 11: 11.7 combines the converter, gearset, hydraulic, electronic and fluid concepts from 11.1–11.6 into a diagnostic evidence chain. The next subcourse, 11.8, moves from in-vehicle diagnosis to removal, inspection, overhaul and reassembly.
