Explore · eight stages of an evidence-preserving overhaul
Select a stage to see its purpose, evidence and common quality-control mistake.
Three rules that protect the diagnosis
| Rule | Why it matters | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Document before cleaning | Debris location, clutch discoloration, wear patterns and fluid evidence can disappear during cleaning. | Photograph the pan, magnet and component stack before washing parts. |
| Measure before replacing | Wear limits, end play and clearances determine whether parts are reusable and whether selective parts are required. | Record a measured clearance and compare it with the exact unit specification. |
| Verify as you assemble | Air checks, rotation checks, end play and staged fastener verification can expose mistakes before installation. | Confirm clutch application and free rotation before sealing the unit. |
Virtual lab · inspection and selective-fit reasoning
Practice comparing a measured value with a fictional classroom specification. The values below are not specifications for any real transmission.
Overhaul-sequence challenge
Choose the steps in the general order that best preserves evidence and assembly quality. Exact procedures vary by unit.
Apply · evidence-gated overhaul cases
Open the evidence before choosing a disposition. Teardown evidence should narrow the cause—not become permission to replace everything.

Resources & instructor extension
Pair this module with the exact transmission-family overhaul manual, exploded views, clutch-clearance/end-play specifications and any existing Autonatomy transmission worksheets selected by the instructor. The Course Player preserves those resources in their registered subcourses rather than duplicating them here.
