Air Path Explorer
Select eight air-path and control elements to distinguish physical airflow, measurement location and command from actual response.
Four Airflow Journeys
Trace how ambient air, pressure, electronic throttle control and verification interact across different engine designs.
Air / Boost Lab · Pressure Is Not Mass
Use this fictional comparison model to see the difference between manifold absolute pressure, gauge pressure and a simplified air-charge mass proxy. Values are adjustable for learning and are not OEM targets, operating limits, or boost instructions.
The Challenger asks · Pick the supported statement
A fictional engine shows MAP = 120 kPa absolute, ambient = 100 kPa and charge temperature = 20 °C. Which statement is supported?
The mass proxy compares MAP/T to a fixed 100 kPa and 20 °C reference with the same cylinder volume and assumed volumetric efficiency. It excludes engine speed, actual filling, valve timing, humidity, heat transfer, MAF location and transient response; it is not a power, torque, diagnosis or calibration calculator.
Continue with the original labs
Explore the preexisting MAF & MAP Diagnostic Lab, Electronic Throttle Control Lab, and Boost Control Lab. These remain separate learning activities, not replacements for this module.
Airflow & Boost Decisions
Six fictional shop situations. Establish sensor location, operating mode, pressure reference and evidence before suggesting the next action.
