COURSE 06 · ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS / SUBCOURSE 06.1

Engine Architecture, Design & Operating Cycles

Understand how internal-combustion engines turn cylinder pressure into torque. Explore engine layouts and components, trace the four-stroke cycle, and use engine geometry to reason about mechanical design.

Training boundary: Operating-cycle diagrams and displacement values are conceptual examples—not engine-specific service information. Do not perform mechanical measurements, disassembly or timing work without the applicable OEM procedure, correct equipment, and qualified supervision.
